This year marks 30 years since Peter Høeg's novel Miss Smilla's feeling for snow first appeared. This celebrates Gyldendal Publishing House to republish a number of the author's books in new graphic design. On this occasion, they have made this video portrait of the author. Here we hear Peter talk about his writing, the joy of writing, and the meeting between the meditative attitude and the creative impulse. We get a glimpse into the story behind the books, and we hear about priorities and considerations – which also include the creative choices he remembers with some sadness.
Peter's story is cinematic and poetically accompanied by images of Copenhagen's streets and the city seen from a bird's eye view.
The video lasts 6-7 minutes.
Gyldendal presents the video as follows:
“Peter Høeg is one of the best-selling Danish authors of all time and recognized for his refined writing. Hear him talk about his debut, about how he writes, about creativity and about what kind of real-unreal world literature creates.”
