Creativity without performance

Hanneli, Jeppe og Peter på IPA3, modul3

Dear friends and acquaintances

These days we are working on the third module of the supervision course. Internal practice and working life.
I love these courses. It's so inspiring to be able to follow people in their immersion over a year and a half.

This weekend's module is about creative processes. About finding one's expression while maintaining contact with the inner, quieter voices.
We work both with written language and with a more unbridled creativity in colors.

In the latter, artist Jeppe Hein leads a process where participants have the opportunity to explore, over a longer period of time, what colors and sound, silence and openness can do together when one lets go of any demands for performance and instead tries to rest in the very quality of being of creativity.

A new batch of the supervision course begins on February 4th.

Through the years of IPA, as we call the process, we have learned that creative flows need pauses if the connection with the inside is to be maintained. Pauses where we feel the body and breath, and examine whether the heart is involved in the process, and give us time to integrate what we come into contact with.

One of the breaks I like the most is the very simple five-breath break. One of us slowly counts out loud to five breaths, and with each inhale and exhale, we land a little more in the present. 'One' and we land in our body. 'Two' and we feel our whole self. 'Three', the shoulders sink a little further. 'Four' and our attention reaches down to our feet again. 'Five', a little more relaxation, a little less noise. Then a moment of silence before we move on.

It reminds me of how little it takes to reconnect with ourselves if we remember to check in with ourselves throughout the day. This memory can be greatly helped along the way if we also remember to take a break right when we wake up.

This week we are sharing a guided morning meditation from the IPA course in the Praksisbiblioteket. It is called Ready to face the day and can be a support from the morning to lay a foundation within ourselves from which it becomes easier to find our way home during the day.

With the wish for a good autumn season – with time for breaks.

Many warm greetings
on behalf of the Kontemplation team
