SUNBREATHING DRESS · new video

At Kontemplation, we are by no means professionals, either in front of or behind a camera – but we have fun playing with the video format.

But not just fun.
Film is perhaps the medium that can most powerfully draw us away from ourselves and towards the lens or screen.
Which most strongly calls for assessments, for comparisons, for the fear of whether we are performing well enough, looking right, coming through to the viewer.

Precisely because of the challenges of staying centered and in touch with oneself that the video format poses, this is an extra educational – and sometimes a bit overwhelming – practice tool for us in the team. In addition to, of course, a welcome opportunity to contact you who, also via the web, take part in our common, broader contemplative community.
Every time one of us takes out a phone or a camera, there is an opportunity to feel the inner judge and from there the opportunity to relax the persona, the front we all show the world. Perhaps also as a necessary protection.

The film camera offers and challenges – it asks us whether it is possible to be authentic and at the same time aware that one is addressing an audience. Whether it is possible to be centered in the present and remain in contact with the medium at the same time. With outward-facing communication.

We practice that.
And now we have practiced it out at Øster Løkke where we practice the sun breathing to Hanneli's guidance accompanied by Torben Westergaard's bass improvisations.

And if you have nine minutes, the video is also meant as an invitation to perform the Solar Breath with us!
