THE GRATEFUL HEART

Guided meditation with

The physical heart is an anatomical fact.
Which has a specific location, a specific shape and specific functions.
What Martin calls 'the emotional heart' in this meditation – that is, the wealth of empathic feelings of connectedness that can often be felt physically in the chest region – is not the same as the physical heart.
But the experience of the two is close to each other: Feeling the physical heart can be a path towards becoming aware of empathic feelings. That is the path we are shown in this exercise.

After first moving from physical awareness of the body and into the heart, we are pointed towards a nuanced understanding of the feelings of the heart. Without expecting us to experience anything specific, we are asked to examine our registration of the feelings right now. Are they vulnerable, are they experienced as a spaciousness? Or in a third way. Then we are tuned into the feeling of gratitude.

Again, without expectations that we will be able to experience gratitude on command. Without expectations at all.
‘'That's', says Martin, 'not what You experience that it is your own investigative attitude towards your body, your heart and its feelings that matters.

It's nice to have a meditation where you are given wordless space to immerse yourself and find out what is happening.
    Thanks.
