Online course: MASTERCLASS IN DREAM INTERPRETATION
14 January, 2025 • at 18:45 - 21:15

Six monthly evenings from December 2024 – June 2025 with Peter Hoeg
We have now held a dream course four times in a couple of months every year for five years in a row at Kontemplation.
And in almost all of our courses and retreats, we have made room for working with dreams.
This has created a feeling that the time may be right to take another step – to make room for a deeper investigation of aspects of dreams that are more complicated than those that are grasped when working with more basic dream understanding.
Hence this MasterClass – a word that may sound pretentious, but we don't think we could have found a better one.
During this course, we will work on, among other things:
- Advanced understanding of how dreams can identify meditative themes and support meditative practice.
- Dreams as symbols –
that is, the way in which dreams also express relationships that go beyond what language can accommodate.
- The many voices in dreams –
which can be heard, or become apparent, when one moves deeper into the dream than with the normal and more basic interpretation.
- Prognostic dreams –
that is, the way in which dreams surprisingly often provide multiple possible future scenarios, offering us the opportunity to consider different ways we can move into the future.
- Karma in dreams –
Jung said: 'There is karma in all dreams'. This is a subject we will approach carefully. With a certain amount of humor, and with an awareness that karma is a charged subject – which is perhaps best approached if you consider it a kind of fairy tale.
- Furthermore, we will also explore:
practices in dreams, colors in dreams, patterns in dreams (mandalas and numbers) and so-called truth dreams.
And we will, as always, also be aware of the collective aspects of dreams.
It is a prerequisite for participating in this course that you have either participated in at least one of our previous dream courses or that you have similar experience from elsewhere.
This is to ensure that participants have a basic understanding of the compensatory function of dreams, the way in which dreams from the unconscious offer us information that can contribute to our growth.
And that one has become accustomed to and has experience that as a dreamer one is not only the dream self, but in a way also all other people, objects and moods in the dream.
As in previous dream courses, participants will be encouraged to keep a dream journal while the course is in progress.
And you will have the opportunity, between sessions, to submit one or two dream essences, which the teachers will then collect in anonymized theme overviews.
It will also be important, as in previous courses, that participants are committed to having a regular meditative practice during the course.
Each evening will have the following structure:
- A shared meditation and a short movement/yoga sequence
- We share and comment on some of the month's dreams - and summarize themes from the submitted dreams.
- Presentation of the evening's theme
- Participants are divided into small groups where each participant, supported by the dialogue, works on a dream from the past month.
- Joint exchange
- Review of the upcoming month's homework
- Joint closing meditation
Between each session:
The idea is that the course should inspire participants to keep a journal over these six months in which they write down their dreams.
Each time, homework will also be suggested, which could be, for example:
Different ways to incorporate dreams into your meditations, different angles from which you can see dreams, different ways to incorporate the night's dreams into your waking life. And into creative processes.
