WOMEN AND MEN OF YOUR KIN · in the heart

Guided meditation with

audio file · 13 minutes

We could – with a little smile – say that what Liv Dhanyo Thommesen invites us to do here is a little piece of spiritual genealogy.

Where in general genealogy it is names and years that matter, here it is the archetypal experience that behind us stand rows of men and women who have lived and loved and passed on life from generation to generation to us, to whom we are invited.

When we turn and look back on our history in this way, we have the opportunity to avoid being trapped by the traumas and dark threads that run through almost all family stories. Instead, we can perhaps open ourselves to gratitude for the very gift of life we have received from previous generations.

We are alive. We are alive right now!
And we can practice.

This guidance invites us to practice when it points out how we all have both past femininity and masculinity within us. Not only as history, but as part of our body, emotional system and consciousness right now.
Parts that can unfold like a dance between the wide awake expanse of consciousness and the support and clarity of focused attention. Through which our feminine and masculine sides can come closer to each other.

For me… who has not practiced for more than a good month now… (previously not continuously)… this was a very powerful meditation, which brought many tears, much sorrow and experience of loneliness and no contact.. emotionally… with it. I know who the closest ancestors and mothers were… but I guess I did not know them. Perhaps difficult lives with more survival than real life. “Strong” men and women, who managed… themselves, perhaps.
What were those lives like? I wish there had been more openness and sharing back then… it feels empty and irrevocable not to know more about my “origins”.
I am filled with great sadness and at the same time a great desire for more openness and more presence here and now and in the future in the relationships that still exist... and THANK YOU for life... which I will live to the best of my ability and not just "manage".

It would be nice to have a meditation to support this field.

      Dear Helen,

Thank you for sharing the experiences, feelings, memories and reflections that emerged through your practice for this guidance.
It is impressive to read about both the past and the present – the gratitude and the intentions.
And THANK YOU for telling us your meditation wish, we will take that into account.

      Warm greetings from our team

    Dear contemplation
I am so grateful for this entire January practice, inspiration for my own practice and the opportunity to share the practice with others, including people who otherwise don't have a practice at all, because you make it so accessible. Thank you.
However, I have a comment on today's family practice. It's good that it came after Søren's beautiful 3 steps yesterday.... To turn around and face everything that is behind you, grief can be a bit overwhelming. Not everyone is blessed with being a family of gentle, kind, loving care. There can be a lot to accept and a lot to be grateful for. I don't think life took into account the pain of the failures that can also be given through generations, so it was good that Søren gave tools to feel the body yesterday - the family today and showed the way to the gratitude that is also there. Thank you for the life that has been given to me. It would have been nice if it had been handed over a little more gently ❤️

      Dear Anne Mette

Thank you for your comment – we are happy to 'hear' your voice again.❤️
And we can understand your comment.
What can we say? We, in Kontemplation and in January Practice, are many different people and many different voices.
And many different people who practice with.
We find that diversity is an advantage – even if it also occasionally causes setbacks and challenges.
That's precisely why comments like yours – which we find to be both heartfelt and sharp – are so important.
      Thanks for that!
Many warm greetings from us to you.
