WISHING GOOD

Guided meditation with

In this exercise, Jonathan points to a possible path: We can let our wishes apply first and foremost to others.

By wishing someone else what Jonathan calls 'the best possible day', we shift the accent from ourselves to first one fellow human being. And from there to everyone.

Finally, after testing, and perhaps opening up, our generosity towards others, to wish that our own lives may also be good.

Wishing in this way is called intercession, and it is found in all the great spiritual traditions. In the monastic republic of Athos, the monks say that if intercession is not prayed for, the earth will perish.

The Dalai Lama has said that intercession for humanity is a regular part of his morning practice.

This exercise is a daily, completely practical and simple way to remind yourself of and feel your natural goodness. And that it applies to both others and yourself.
