A calm, clear mind

We invite you to an online course over three evenings that explores classical meditation techniques from the Tibetan tradition in the encounter with today's brain research and psychology.
We will primarily work with two aspects of meditation:
One where the mind is allowed to calm down.
And another: to cultivate a clearer understanding of thoughts and feelings.
At the same time, we want to invite a third quality in, a friendly and open attention where the heart can naturally participate.
These aspects complement and support each other:
In order to examine the mind more clearly, it is necessary for it to first find a certain calm and concentration.
We then use that calm and natural focus to also examine the contents of the mind — thoughts, feelings, memories, plans, and so on.
At the same time, this movement allows room for heart qualities such as kindness, care and concern to unfold naturally.
A clear and traditional image of this is to compare the mind to a glass of muddy water. If it is allowed to stand still, the mud will naturally settle, and the water will, at its own natural pace, become clear again.
