Where can one find political and economic wisdom in Denmark today? I mean, not just partisan information, not mockery of opponents, but knowledge of what the global situation actually needs? You’ll find it with Steen Hildebrandt. Professor, leadership researcher, author, debater, and sage in the truest sense of the word. Once in a blue moon, a person breaks through into the public eye because of their depth, their ethics, and their overview of the global picture—and manages to be heard and respected by both like-minded people and opponents, by both young and old.Steen Hildebrandt is one such rare individual. In this brief and crystal-clear article, which he wrote for *Kontemplation*, he outlines—with what we might call “alarmed optimism”—his view of the potentially decisive significance of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Denmark’s unique position in relation to those goals.
