DREAMS AND LIFE THEMES – A PRACTICE COURSE

A course of six months
With two physical modules at Vækstcenteret in Nørre Snede and four online sessions
Teacher: Peter Høeg
Program coordinators: Jeanette Lykkegård and Britta Karlshøj
The two most important days in your life are:
The day you are born – and the day you understand why
∼ Mark Twain
It is the experience of depth psychology that in our lives there are one or a few life themes.
This means some very basic opportunities and challenges that are tackled early in life – which can often be traced back to birth.
Which in a way constitutes a life task and a life opportunity.
Often, a deeper sense of meaning in life will be linked to whether we can identify these life themes – and begin to dance with them.
Discovering these themes can be a great help, also in our meditative practice.
The themes will in any case be instrumental in determining how our lives unfold.
If we know them and work with them, understanding the way they always contain both lifelong resources and tasks, we can get important help in maneuvering in life and practice.
It is not easy to discover and express such life themes. Although they are always present in our daily lives, in almost all situations, they are somehow hidden and diluted in the diversity of life.
But through understanding our dreams, we have the opportunity to discover these patterns, to sense and articulate their core.
Whereby we can get to dance with them.
But also get help to get rid of them.
Such themes are basically habits. And the special thing about a regular meditative practice is that it allows us to begin to let go of even the deepest habits.
This process will work along these two tracks:
- To discover, formulate and work with life themes.
- And to start letting go of them, to find freedom in relation to them.
Between each session
The idea is that the course should inspire participants to keep a journal over these six months in which they write down their dreams.
We invite participants to send us a dream between each module - which we will answer individually.
To enable this individual care, there is an upper limit of 24–28 participants.
Each time, homework will also be suggested, which could be, for example:
Ways to incorporate dreams into your meditations.
Angles you can see dreams from.
Different ways to incorporate nighttime dreams into your waking life – and into creative processes.
Scope of the course:
The course begins and ends with a full day at Vækstcenteret in Nørre Snede – the first day on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the second on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Between these two days, there are four Wednesday evenings online, approximately one month apart.
Physical meetings take place at Vækstcenteret from 10 am to 5 pm.
Online sessions run from 6:45 PM – 9:15 PM
The course is intensive and requires that you have worked with basic dream understanding - and that you have a meditative practice.
Deadline for applications is August 15th.
Shortly thereafter, the team is assembled and applicants are notified.
Participants in the course will then receive an email with suggestions on how to work with their dreams, with a special focus on life themes, leading up to the first physical meeting.
For new students
If we have not met you before, please attach a few lines about your experiences with, for example, meditation, yoga, dream work or related areas.
Do you lack experience?
Then we recommend the basic course Dreams, meditation and therapy with Britta Karlshøj, where we work individually with dreams and meditative presence.
