DREAMS, THERAPY AND MEDITATION with psychotherapist Britta Karlshøj

Kontemplation invites you to a intensive online course on dreams, therapy and meditation with psychotherapist Britta Karlshøj over four evenings.
We will turn our attention specifically to a therapeutic approach to dreams and to how a meditation practice can enrich such an approach.
There are often significant resources hidden in the parts of our personal history that try to call for our attention through our dreams.
Such resources – which can be both light and dark – often require more care, tenderness, courage and support than ordinary dream interpretation.
There will be plenty of time in this process, in a small and trusting group, to get to the bottom of individual dreams, to let memories take their place and to feel what telling the dreams to someone else and to a teacher sets in motion.
In addition to the self-insight that such processes can provide, there are special opportunities in bringing dream understanding and meditation together.
Meditation can increase access to dream life and open up to deeper and clearer dreams, and provide calm and stability when encountering challenging material from one's biography.
Similarly, working with dream understanding can activate and make larger parts of one's personality aware and thus increase the part of oneself that one includes in the meditations.
Each evening will have the following structure:
· A movement sequence
· A shared meditation and creative exercise that points towards tonight's dream work
· Presentation of the evening's theme, which will have a special focus on therapeutic opportunities and challenges.
· Exchange in a break-out room. Participants are divided into pairs, where both work on a dream from the past week. And where we will explore the values of listening and expressing ourselves in a non-judgmental and attentive space.
· Exchange in the common room.
· Review of the coming week's homework (see below)
· Joint closing meditation
Between each session:
Each time, homework will be suggested, which will partly aim to remember and write down any dreams by keeping a dream journal, and partly will contain basic, shorter meditative exercises that aim to accommodate and appreciate our vulnerability. Without underestimating the challenges this presents for all of us.
To get the full benefit from this process, you should be prepared to dedicate approximately half an hour a day to this combination of writing down dreams and shorter meditative exercises.
In this course, we will touch on, among other things:
· Basic dream understanding inspired by Ole Vedfelt, Bob Moore and Jung in particular and the experience and inspiration that comes from Kontemplation.
· Shadow work and working with our inner opposite sex. Including special focus on the possibilities for releasing tension and blockages that can lie in a practical approach to working with dreams that is both therapeutic and meditative.
· Various other ways of meeting dreams; creatively, physically, meditatively and analytically.
We will ask applicants we have not previously met in Kontemplation to send a few lines about their experience with meditation, therapy and the like.
