Icon paintings, Tibetan thangkas, Zen Buddhist flower arrangements and numerous other art forms, Taoist paintings, Sufism music, poetry and dance are just a few examples of spiritual creativity.

It is also worth considering that we only have a hundred years left before virtually all Western art is directly related to religion.

There is agreement that today, perhaps more than ever, it is important that creativity has a place in our lives.

For children and adults alike.

In Kontemplation, we have become increasingly aware of the importance of all of us expressing ourselves.

Where we have previously said that 'The more deeply one has met oneself, the more deeply one can meet others', we are now inclined to add 'and the more deeply one has met others, the better one can move towards one's human essence.'‘

That's why we always work with creativity, on courses and retreats, and in our team.

Over the next few months we will be holding a series of writing workshops. The real purpose of which – apart from the fact that it is fun and meaningful to play together in a serious way – is to equip us all a little better in the work of disseminating information about warmth, presence and meditative practice, which is part of the underlying impulse of the Kontemplation platform.

We have just held the first of these workshops.

The premise for it was a quote from the great Sufi poet Rumi: Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment. Loosely translated: Let go of control and let go of controllessness.

The participants were given 15 minutes to write a blog post of maximum one A4 page about this.

In the coming days we will bring you the texts that came out of this. They testify to the small, collective volcanic eruption that took place in those 15 minutes.

We won't say anything special about them. Every reading is unique, a small creative act in itself. You will read these texts in your own way.

But perhaps we can say that we are moved by the image of the creativity that flows through us all.

Photo: Pia Enghild

I alle de store spirituelle traditioner betragtes kreativiteten som et aspekt af vejen mod højere bevidsthed.
